Lecture, three hours. An overview of the conceptual and technical foundations of contemporary neuroscience from ancient times to the present. The subjects include synapses, neurons, brain organization, sensory, motor and regulatory systems, learning and memory, human brain function and dysfunction. Prerequisites: Biological Sciences 35 or N110, or Psychology and Social Behavior P115D, or Psychology 9A-B-C, or consent of instructor. Concurrent with Neurobiology and Behavior 255.
