Prerequisite: BIO 115 An introduction to life at the cellular and molecular levels. Lecture topics include: structure of biological molecules, metabolism, gene expression, cell signaling, the cell cycle, and cell death. The structure, function, and dynamics of cellular components such as membranes and the cytoskeleton are also considered. Cell biology laboratory emphasizes cell visualization and performing basic molecular techniques.
