This course describes the value of and an approach to develop amanufacturing operations strategy. Also addressed is the need to alignmanufacturing with overall organizational strategic plans and objectives.Manufacturing's early involvement in the planning process is critical. Typicallymanufacturing's active involvement takes place late in the planning cycle. This course will address why the late involvement exists and the need for early involvement. Late involvement often leads to a flawed strategy and/or strategies difficult formanufacturing to successfully support. A factor in the flawed approach is often due tomanufacturing's excessive attention to day-to-day issues. The day-to-day necessitymay also be symptomatic of a flawed manufacturing process. Late involvement provides little time to assess and acknowledge current systemflaws. Building a strategy froma flawed systemor process is a potentially devastating situation.
