MA 388 - Introduction to Number Theory 3

Institution:
Milwaukee School of Engineering
Subject:
Description:
Number Theory is primarily concerned with the properties of the integers. While the subject has long been thought of as "pure"mathematics, recent developments in fields such ascryptography have renewed interest in it. Topicsmay include divisibility and congruences, Diophantine equations (i.e., equations with whole number solutions), Farey and continued fractions, and the distribution of primes. The course serves as an excellent introduction to the process ofmathematical conjecture and proof. (prereq:MA-231)
