Three Credits LA This course deals with the politics of racial, gender-based, ethnic, and religious prejudice. The course will study both past and recent patterns of the denial of basic human rights which were/are aided by government sponsoring, encouraging, or selectively ignoring manifestations of prejudice. The course will explore anti-Semitism, anti-Catholicism, oppression of blacks, "gay bashing," suppression of women, and "ethnic cleansing" with particular emphasis on the roles of political actors, processes, and institutions.
