Three Credits LA This course is intended as an introduction to the politics and history of Russia and Eastern Europe from the communist to the post-communist period when countries in this region have been engaged in an historic transformation from Communism. Attention will be given to roles of ideology, political institutions and participation, political economy, as well as the challenges facing these countries in their unprecedented transitions to democracy and free-market economies.
