Three Credits LA This course will critically examine the thought of Karl Marx and investigate Marxism as a philosophical system and conceptual framework for understanding history and society. Topics to be discussed include: historical materialism; social change; the theory of class struggle; the economic critique of capitalism; alienation, exploitation, and reification; commodity fetishism; the role and purpose of philosophy; and revolution.
