Three Credits LA Dual listed as POSC 105 This course introduces the student to the Anglo-Saxon origins of some of our legal institutions, e.g., the jury system, writs, habeas corpus, etc., and traces their development up to our own time. The student is shown why the Common Law developed as it did, what distinguishes Common Law from Roman civil law, and what influence the latter had on the former. The purpose of the course is to assist the student in achieving a better understanding of our legal traditions through an historical overview. Offered biennially.
