Three Credits LA This course introduces the basic concepts of point-set topology, beginning with the notions of metric and topological spaces and the definitions of a continuous function and a homeomorphism. Subspace, product, and quotient topologies are introduced, and the fundamental topological features of connectedness, compactness, and the Hausdorff separation property are studied. Additional topics in point-set, geometric, or algebraic topology may be included according to the interests of the instructor and the class. Offered upon sufficient student demand.
