Three Credits LA This course examines the range and variety of literary forms contained in the Bible. It seeks to identify those qualities, stylistic and conceptual, which unify this collection of ancient Hebrew writings as well as those qualities which have made the Bible an all-time best seller. Attention will be given to the historical and cultural background, but the emphasis will be upon literary and aesthetic considerations. Offered in alternate years. (Fulfills Comparative/Ethnic/National requirement for English Literature majors.)
