Three Credits LA This course is designed to broaden and deepen a student's understanding of sports reporting and to sharpen and develop the student' s writing skills. It also recognizes tha t today ? sports reporters must cover more than scores and games and find the stories beyond the games. Personalities, social and economic forces, labor-management conflicts, legal and ethical concerns, and fan behavior are all part of the spor ts reporter 's beat. Students will cover sporting events and write feature and sidebar stories and columns. They will follow national and local sports stories and analyze examples of professional sports writing. In addition, students will be required to become familiar with the field of sports-information directing and its intricacies.
