Description:

A study of the Bill of Rights and the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution by focusing on those provisions which relate to the rights of persons accused of crimes. The individual's right to due process safeguards the availability of counsel and protection from unreasonable searches and seizures, compulsory self-incrimination, and double jeopardy. Development of and reasoning behind the exclusionary rule of evidence is analyzed. In addition, this course will examine the Federal and Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure.
