3 cr. 3 hr. In this continuation of Fiction Writing ( ENGL 3510), students further develop their skills as creative writers by exploring techniques for writing short stories and novellas. Technical knowledge of fiction writing basics is expanded and more advanced techniques are practiced, including image patterning, compaction, control of narrative pacing, voice and narrative distance, a sophisticated understanding of time manipulation, creating a credible narrative consciousness within a work.
