3 cr. 3 hr. This course is designed to help the student, whose goal is to be involved in a helping profession, learn about the problems and processes of interviewing while developing basic skills needed to become an effective interviewer. The course includes assigned readings, class discussions, audio and videotaped simulated interviews, demonstrations and practice sessions. Students' self-evaluations of their performance in videotaped simulated interviews serve as primary learning tools. Prerequisite: HMSV 1100 and permission of the instructor. Students must pre-register in the semester prior to the course.
