3 cr. 3 hr. Students are introduced to the three principal literary genres: poetry, fiction, and drama. In this course, students will read a number of poems, plays, stories, and novels. These works will cover a broad historical range, and will include both Western and non-Western examples. The emphasis in this course will be the formal conventions of each genre, and the specific ways in which literary forms and technique create meaning. This course can also satisfy the Writing II requirement. L
