3 cr. 3 hr. The course studies the oral tradition in European and non-Western contexts. Students examine the oral tradition in classic works as well as its continuance in fairy tales, popular music, story theater and performance art. Students will consider the structure and presentation of traditional, individually composed and family narratives. Each student will give at least two oral presentations before an audience. L, C, ART
