3 cr. 3 hrs. Arrest, conviction and incarceration rates for persons of color are generally acknowledged to be disproportionate. Is this the result of inequitable treatment by the criminal justice system, or are there other factors that may explain it? This course will review the empirical evidence available to answer this question and the ways in which researchers have attempted to frame these questions and analyze the results.
