Description:
This course begins the study of the concepts and theories in modern chemistry. Topics include: matter and energy; measurement in chemistry; chemical formulas and composition stoichiometry; chemical equations and reaction stoichiometry; atomic structure; Quantum Mechanics; chemical bonding; and, bonding theories. The laboratory portion of the course involves exercises which help to demonstrate these chemical principles. Three hours lecture and three hours laboratory per week.
