An examination of nuclear strategy in the context of international and domestic politics since the development of atomic and hydrogen weapons. The impact of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the formation of a Russian confederation will also be explored in the course. The course gives a global overview of U.S. foreign policy from 1938 to the present, with an emphasis on how the "American character"has helped shape that policy.
