Description:

This course, the first of five supervised field experiences for prospective dual endorsement school teachers, has two main components, a twenty hour seminar and a forty to sixty hour field experience in a local elementary classroom setting. Designed as an orientation to teaching and life in the American public school system, the course and field experience link theory with practice in a school setting. At the school site, candidates are involved in a variety of introductory experiences related to their university classroom work and the school setting, mentored by a classroom teacher, and supervised by a university faculty member. During seminar, candidates have an opportunity to develop a learning community and problem solve issues specific to each internship.
