Studies the first five books of the Bible in light of their historical, literary, and theological features. Major topics to be covered include myth, creation, flood narratives, the patriarchs, the Joseph story, the Exodus, covenant, and law. Attention will also be given to the Ancient Near Eastern context in which these books were written. Prerequisite: any RS 200 level course. One semester; three credits
