Description:

Science is not an unchanging subject. Many "facts" of science have been disproved, while otherinsights have remained unchanged. This course will focus on the scientific achievements of the past and the experiments that have led us to our current understanding. We will look at major themes in the fields of astronomy (from a geocentric to a heliocentric cosmology), physics (the science of mechanics: ancient and modern), chemistry (the atom: from hypothesis to reality), and biology (the discovery of the gene). Fee $10. Periodically.
