A extension of CHE 2111. Continued study of organic functional groups and their chemical properties and molecular structures. Emphasis is on reaction mechanisms and spectroscopic methods of analysis of organic molecules. Advanced organic laboratory uses both macroscale and microscale techniques. Computers will be integrated into the lab environment and computational chemistry will be applied to problems in organic chemistry. Lecture (2 hrs) and lab (6 hrs). Prerequisite: CHE 2111. Lab fee $40. Spring
