This course will deal with the importance and characteristics of the U.S. Swine Industry. Emphasis will be placed on Swine enterprises, buildings, and systems of production, management of breeding herd, environmental control, selection or replacements, feeding, diseases, and marketing. There will be a one-hour lecture and a 2-hour lab. The lab period is utilized to develop skills associated with swine (AI internship and certification program). (Pre-requisite: AS 213).
