Kalra This is a hands-on course where students spend one afternoon a week in the laboratory working on such problems as how to tell if a glass of water is Evian or good old water from a Hollins fountain, how much acid you consume when you drink a can of soda, how much aspirin is in a Bufferin or Anacin tablet, or is there any aspirin in these tablets at all. These and other problems are dealt with using some simple and some advanced laboratory instruments. The oncea- week lecture is used to look at the chemistry behind the experimental work.
