This course is an interdisciplinary examination of the relationship between politics and human rights. This course will cover violent conflicts, human rights abuses, and movements for freedom and reform in which politics is a factor. Students will study the impact of human rights issues on policymaking, explore universality versus relativism in human rights, and also deal with the human rights issues that will confront them in the future. Three hours, three credits.
