An in-depth exploration of the structure, organization, and operating procedures of American law enforcement agencies, including the ways in which they assess, evaluate, and respond to crime. The course will acquaint the student with the current state of knowledge about police officers, and the most critical problems facing the police today. The course will cover the role of the police in modern society, including the problems of today and the challenges of the future. Prerequisite: CJU 201. Three hours, three credits.
