The course traces the growth and development of American literary Romanticism, focusing on such authors as Irving, Cooper, Poe, Emerson, Thoreau, Hawthorne, Melville, Whitman, and Dickinson. Prerequisite: three hours of ENG 201-207. Three hours, three credits.
