A study of the anatomy, physiology, isolation, and identification of microorganisms concentrating primarily on the bacteria. The roles of various groups in nature, medicine, and industry are also studied. Immunology and a study of the human immune system are included. The laboratory portion stresses the practical aspects in an individual isolation and identification setting. Prerequisite: BIO 101. Seven hours, five credits.
