Forensics is the application of science as it applies to law enforcement. Topics will include physical evidence collection, fingerprinting, organic analysis, inorganic analysis, toxicology and serology, DNA, document examination, physical properties, and development of footwear and tire impressions. There will be exercises in: locating a buried body and processing the crime scene, lifting latent fingerprints, processing footwear/tire impressions, and reconstructing a crime scene from blood spatter analysis techniques. Prerequisite: BIO 101 and CHM 101 or 103. Three hours, three credits.
