This course provides teacher education candidates with the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to establish and maintain physically and psychologically safe and healthy learning environments for young children that promote optimal development. The course explores a variety of theories, philosophies and resultant practices in caring for and educating young children. This course includes an intensive field-based service-learning component. Students must register for EDUC 211, 212 and 311 concurrently. Prerequisite: EDUC 151. Offered fall and spring.
