This course focuses on the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of children ages birth- 8. Specifically, theoretical frameworks, developmental milestones and factors influencing development are examined. In addition, through case study research, the course stresses the importance of observation for assessing development and examines appropriate methods for recording children's behavior. This course includes an intensive field-based service-learning component. Students must register for EDUC-211, 212 and 311 concurrently. Prerequisites: EDUC-151. Offered fall and spring.
