An introduction to the art of reading, understanding and constructing mathematical proofs. A variety of proof techniques will be presented. Topics, with emphasis on proofs, will be drawn from set theory, functions, relations, discrete mathematics, analysis, number theory and group theory. Prerequisite: 225 or 230.
