A study of the molecular aspects of genetic material, and the application of molecular genetic knowledge in contemporary society. Topics include regulation of gene expression, transcriptional and translational processes, gene experimentation, forensics, genetic screening for human disease, and other biotechnological uses of genetic information. Includes discussion of bioethical issues as they relate to genetics. Prerequisites: BIOL 270; biochemistry recommended.
