Economics of contemporary issues provides a survey of societal issues examined through the lens of economic analysis. A scientific approach is adopted in which the basic tools of economics are applied to social issues such as pollution, crime and prevention, poverty and discrimination, professional sports and economic growth. Students will gain an appreciation of how society addresses the conflict between unlimited wants and scarce resources. [ SS]
