A study of the scientific principles underlying the physiology, acoustics, and perception of normal speech production as a basis for subsequent understanding of disordered speech. Topics include basic concepts of sound, motor and acoustic theories of speech production, speech perception, instrumentation used to measure speech processes, and application to speech pathology.
