3, 3/0 Prerequisite: CHE 100, CHE 101, or CHE 111. The structure, uses, and physiological effects of common medications, at a level appropriate for the nonscience major. Emphasis on consumer issues related to safe and effective use of prescription and nonprescription drugs; drug development and approval; alternative medicines, vitamins, generic drugs, and consumer guides for using drugs wisely. Not open to chemistry or forensic chemistry majors.
