This course presents essential knowledge for conducting a forensic fire investigation. It describes the elementary chemistry of combustion and the factors that control fire behavior, including why fire behavior is not precisely predictable. It discusses the fundamental properties of liquid, gaseous and solid fuels as well as electrical, clothing (fabric), hazardous material and vehicular fires and explosions. Cf.: SEC 1018.
