Prerequisites: PAS 3103; PAS 3104. Biopharmaceutics is the study of the factors influencing bioavailability of a drug in man and animals and the use of this information to optimize therapeutic activity of drug products in clinical application. This course includes the study of (a) factors which may influence availability and disposition as well as pharmacological and toxicological response of drugs, and (b) pharmacokinetic mathematical models to assess drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination process, including continuous and intermittent drug infusion. Credit: 3 semester hours.
