Through a combination of writing assignments, lectures and discussions, this course familiarizes students with various types of writing used in a broad media spectrum, including broadcast media and allied fields. Special emphasis is put on print and electronic news writing, and on writing commercials, PSAs (public service announcements), specialized communications, press releases, and writing for Internet sites and for emerging media. Other topics are introduced according to current events and progressive professional needs.
