This course examines the nature and function of formal and informal assessment processes and literacy instruction for intermediate grade levels. This course also includes an examination of best practices for students in diverse school settings and a review of assessment strategies designed to enhance literacy instruction through the use of technology. This course builds on the theories, methods, and materials introduced in EDUC 313. A focus on linking the New York State Standards in English Language Arts in pedagogy and curriculum is emphasized. This course includes a field experience. Restriction: 2.75 GPA. Prerequisites: EDUC 290, 313, 350. Corequisites: EDUC 351, 390.
