Description:

Research on an original problem in chemistry is carried out under the direction of a department faculty member. Training in research methods, use of the scientific literature, and evaluation of data are emphasized. A student may register for one to four credit hours in a given semester. At least once during the course of the project the student will report orally on his or her work before the department faculty and students. Upon completion of the project, the results will be presented in the form of a written research report. Completion of the Independent Study/Tutorial Authorization form is required.
