This course is designed to introduce you to theory, methods and practice involved in approaches predicting and evaluating the environmental consequences of a proposed action or undertaking in an urban context. Urban Impact Assessment or Environmental Impact Assessment can be defined as: "The process of identifying, predicting, evaluating and mitigating the biophysical, social, and other relevant effects of development proposals prior to major decisions being taken and commitments made." (IAIA 1999 - http://www.iaia.org/modx/ ). Impact assessment is critical in decision making and identifying possible mitigations for negative consequences of projects. Prerequisite: PS 2104.
