The interconnection of dissimilar data networks to provide users with access to network resources from anywhere at anytime is discussed. The role of the Internet and intranets is examined along with the internetworking devices: routers, bridges, and gateways. Important internetworking protocols arediscussed and their application is examined. Selected user applications made possible by this environment will be presented. Prerequisite: TELE 220.
