A course designed to provide the student with the mathematics required for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate study in the physical sciences. Topics covered are vector analysis, introduction to vector space and matrix algebra, infinite series, the partial differential equations of physics, an introduction to the special functions of Bessel, Legendre, Hermite, and Laguerre, and Fourier series. Physical applications are stressed. Prerequisites: PHYS 220, MATH 320.
