This course provides an introduction to the theoretical and practical aspects of digital filmmaking. Elementary aesthetic principles of film language are introduced along with the roles of director, cinematographer, and other creative personnel. Specially designed shooting exercises in the classroom teach the basic techniques of digital film production. Student director/cameraperson teams are assigned to produce and edit short silent digital films. Shooting and editing sessions are scheduled in addition to class time. All necessary equipment is provided.
