This course covers the basic principles of dramaturgy and its application to the writing of screenplays for film and television. Students learn the technicalities of script formats for film and television and the various stages of preparation through which scripts normally pass such as: concept, treatment, draft, rewrites, synopsis. Students are guided as they develop of short screenplay through all necessary stages into a complete story script ready for pre-production and production in future semesters. Required for students specializing in film and television. Prerequisites: WRIT 101 and WRIT 151.
