Using the health, safety and welfare of building occupants as an underlying rationale, this course studies the impact of building codes and regulations as they specifically relate to building interiors. The identification, comprehension and application of codes, in tandem with the different phases of design, construction and occupancy, are stressed. Specific topics include occupancy, fire prevention, egress, environmental standards, ADA and Universal Design. Prerequisite: DSGN 202.
