The objectives of this course are to give students a working knowledge of the field of lighting and illumination. It will examine lighting as an influential role in the design landscape today. The Lecture component will consist of exploration of vocabulary, calculations, an graphic representations of lighting. In the Demonstration and Studio Components, students will gain further knowledge through observation of lighting system and collaborative research projects. Issues of materials science, health concerns and sustainability relative to lighting strategies will be covered. Prerequisite: DSGN 201 or ARCH 201.
