Recurring patterns of action, setting, characterization, and language in six books ( The Pickwick Papers, Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, Great Expectations, Little Dorrit, Our Mutual Friend) are considered from a variety of perspectives: psychological, biographical, historical, formalist.
